What is branding anyway?
How your target market (ie your ideal customers) view your business is where your branding comes in…
Branding is so much more than a logo and slogan, it’s a feeling and reputation, it’s your values.
You need to consider all of the following, and the feelings they could evoke in people about your brand:
style | colours | image | words | graphics | tone
And most of all you need to be consistent! This is absolutely key to effective branding. Make sure everything gives the same impression and evokes the same feelings. If things aren’t consistent, the impression you give to others will be confusing, and this could prevent sales.
First impressions are going to be really important, however so too is relationship building. Therefore your branding messages need to be thought about in advance to make sure they stay consistent long term; in your product(s) or service(s), in your emails, in your blog posts, on social media, on your website, in any advertising, in your customer service and after-sales care.
Think of branding as your business’s personality
It needs to be taken into every part of your business. If all your activities tie in together with consistent branding then your marketing will be clearer and the right customers (you know, your ideal customers) will know that you’re the one for them and they will buy from you.
